Monday started well. I had a good breakfast and pushed out a few ????s for an hour or so before I took Alex out for a walk. I thought we’d do Hilly Fields for a change – we hadn’t done it since Sunday morning! Anyway, I did notice that there had been yet more fly tipping around the haul route but it seems to get cleared quite quickly which is good. That is … apart from the pair of underpants that are hanging on the fence and have been there for months! As we approached the field I call Tylers Close Field, I tried so hard to drag him along at a reasonable speed, but he was having none of it. The harder I pulled, the slower he went. Eventually, we got to the field and I got to run about. I ran all the way up the side of the field and then realised that he was miles away – he hadn’t followed me at all! I had to run all the way down the field and back to him. Then I ran up the field again and in a big circle before I eventually arrived back at him and got a big treat. He isn’t nearly as quick as me in the field, but I do get a treat when I get back to him, so it’s OK.

In the afternoon I took him around Bay Pond for a change. That was when it went a bit wrong. We were doing a reverse Bay Pond (this is similar to a ‘reverse Baron’s Court’ for those that might have been fans of Mornington Crescent … and for those that weren’t Doogle it!) and as we came down Bay Pond path I realised that I needed a bit of a poo. I did consider the option of one of the sides of the path where there is some grass, then I thought about the grass outside the St Nicholas Youth Centre, but then I remembered we would be passing Angela’s house. Now, don’t get me wrong, I love Angela … which is why I like to leave her the odd present. So I held on until we got to Angela’s house. She came out to say hello which was nice, so I gave her a present to remember! A full three bagger that had an aroma that’ll take a week to disperse!! Oh boy, was I proud of that one. Apparently he wasn’t. As he picked it all up, he was muttering something about a ‘cooking dog’ (well I think that is what he said) which is odd because I don’t cook at all! Anyway, he apologised to Angela (although I saw no reason why an apology was necessary) and we walked back home. All the way home he was muttering something like “What has Angela done to deserve that?” and “Why can’t he just use the path and I can clear it up without having to apologise to people?”. I don’t know what it was all about, but he was definitely a bit grumpy.

Tuesday was total chaos all day. You see, Fraser is now painting the dining room and kitchen. Simon is still here … obviously. But on Tuesday Steve came to do that plumbing thing he does – something to do with a kitchen sink. The granite people arrived (there were loads of them) to put the granite tops in the kitchen, then there was Andy, Eddie and Louis who were doing the gates and, would you believe, in the afternoon Kevin and Neil popped in! There were people everywhere! I did take Alex out for a walk whilst they were carrying the granite in … I didn’t want him getting under their feet and causing an accident to happen. At one point though, there were just too many people – I think I counted eight, although my maths isn’t always that great. I decided that more space was needed in the kitchen so I produced one of my better bottom burps and, within just a few seconds, everyone left the kitchen and it was clear! I can produce a pretty high quality of bottom burp!!

On Wednesday, Alex started putting things back in the kitchen so that the garage could be cleared and we could get rid of the skip that has been on the drive for ever. Needless to say, he was grumbling – something about his arm hurting when he lifted things. It was all very confusing, he kept taking things out of one cupboard and putting them in another. He got so carried away with it that he suddenly realised that he was going to miss my hydrotherapy session! He had to phone up and they gave him another appointment later in the day. Now, I do have something to tell you that you won’t believe. I couldn’t believe my eyes either. In fact, even now I am beginning to doubt whether I saw what I saw. You see, Neil popped in on Wednesday afternoon and – I can’t believe I’m going to say this – he put something back! He didn’t destroy anything! He put the toilet back that he took out a few weeks ago! I am still getting over the shock of him not destroying something. Wow! Life is full of surprises sometimes! Of course, Alex didn’t get a photograph but I guess he was shocked too.

Thursday was a relatively quiet day. Thank goodness the rain that we had on Wednesday had gone. I got soaked when we went out for a walk. Apparently he got soaked when we went for hydro. I was spending some quality time with my personal therapists and he nipped down to Tesco to get a sandwich, when he was walking back there was a particularly heavy downpour and he got wet. He was so wet that he needed a complete change of clothes when we got home! When we (myself, Richard and him) went out for a walk in the afternoon we only went around Court Road and Dewlands because it was raining to hard and, when we got home, he needed another complete change of clothes! Boy did it rain! He is definitely getting better at using the hair dryer though – not for himself, obviously … I think it is a very long time since he needed a hair dryer … but for me. I rather like the hair dryer and have a jolly good roll around!

Having better weather on Thursday meant that we could do a really nice walk around Hilly Fields in the morning. That meant I could have a good run in Tylers Close Field (which I did) and, when we got back, I was completely knackered, if you get my meaning. I spent a good couple of hours pushing out ????s! Now, I may have mentioned this before, but he isn’t all that bright sometimes (actually most of the time!). If brains were dynamite, he wouldn’t have enough to blow himself up, if you get my gist! Anyway, in the afternoon he toddled off to do some interview or something for the BBC (I did look the BBC up on Fidopedia, but it isn’t very clear – it seems it is lots of different radio channels and lots of different television channels – it was all too much for me to look up what a radio is and what a television is and what a channel is etc., etc. – I can’t be bothered with all that stuff). Anyway, he asked Bren to spend some quality time with me, which was nice. When he got back I took him out for a walk. We had to go a bit earlier than usual because he had physiotherapy on his arm to go to (pathetic excuse – I think he’s just jealous of my hydrotherapy and personal therapists!). Anyway, having been rather unceremoniously dumped in favour of an interview, I thought he needed a bit of a lesson, so I dragged him around Green Lane and Bay Pond – if he tried to walk anywhere I didn’t want to, I jumped up and nipped him. I pulled him as hard as I could and when we were on Bay Pond path and I was off lead, I totally ignored him and then ran at super fast speed towards him to teach him a lesson. I think he has learned his lesson … I am far more important than any interview! And so, here we are on Friday morning with less than a week to go before my operation. I am not looking forward to it, but I am trying not to think about it. There is a lot that will happen between now and then anyway. I must take him out for a walk now, we have a very busy day ahead! So, for now, must paws … ????
