I’ve ‘ad a bath!

Flamin’ heck! This Limpsfield Chart has some messages to sniff!

Yep, it’s true … I’ve ‘ad a bath! That said, I should really start at the beginning, which is actually the end of my last Glog, so maybe I am actually starting at the end, but then you can’t start at the end so I guess it must be the beginning … oh, I don’t know – my brain hurts! Anyway, wherever I am starting, here’s the good news … I heard from Uncle Don last week, so all is well. Apparently, he’s been looking after a Labrador called Ruby at his nephew’s house – he says he went there when he was 77 years old so he must have been there flamin’ ages!!! Talking of good news, we went somewhere new last weekend. Well, when I say new, I really mean somewhere we haven’t been for ever and ever. I went to Limpsfield Chart with him once but it was so long ago that I had forgotten just how sniffable it is! Everywhere you go there are messages to sniff and things to see! I don’t know why we haven’t been there much more than we have. I had a lovely time although I do think we might have made a minor error somewhere because we ended up walking past a garden where there was a very aggressive resident pooch and then onto a road that we definitely didn’t intend to walk along. Kent Hatch Road is not good for walking!

I couldn’t believe it when Auntie Jo came to see me!

I think we must have been following Daddy Richard’s sense of direction – he claims he’s a bloodhound but I can tell you that he’d have trouble finding his way to Bay Pond path if he didn’t have a flamin’ SatNag!! Anyway, we had a lovely time at Limpsfield Chart – I think it was the best day ever! Talking of the best day ever, Tuesday was the best day ever too. Having been out for my usual constitutional, we went out again at mid-morning and parked up at Grandma’s but we didn’t go in. We walked from Grandma’s house to the station in Oxted and then just stood there. I was getting a bit bored when I turned around and …. you won’t believe this … and stood right there was Auntie Jo!!! Oh my woof, was I excited!! I wagged my tail so much I thought it would fall off! We all walked back to go and see Grandma (well, that’s what they said but I know that Auntie Jo really came to see me!) and I showed Auntie Jo where Grandma lives. We stayed there for a while and then, when Grandma went for her lunch, we got in the car thingy and went home. Then I got to take Auntie Jo to the pub for lunch where I showed he that I know loads of people in the village.

I’m still finding givin’ up sticks quite difficult!

After lunch in the pub we went back to see Grandma again but then it turned out that Auntie Jo had to go home. He went with Auntie Jo to East Croydon because the trains were in a bit of a mess and he wanted to ensure that Auntie Jo was able to get a train that would get her to the right station in London so that she could get home. I went home with Daddy Richard so that I could have my dinner and push out a few ????s after such a busy day. He eventually reappeared and we settled down for the evening. On Tuesday evening neither Auntie Sue nor Eric came to visit so we had a quiet night in and I spent quite a lot of it pushing out ????s. One of the things that I have discovered is that being around a puppy is flamin’ tiring!! Usually I tend to have fairly quiet evenings but with Eric around they can be pretty full on! On Wednesday evening we went to Auntie Sue and Eric’s house for dinner which was jolly nice, although I did rather feel a bit mischievous and found that Auntie Sue had not yet learned about putting things ‘above Monty height’ as it is described. We didn’t stay very late and they seemed rather desperate to get me home for some reason!

Eric was fine after I had a serious bark in his ear!

Thursday and Friday were more ‘normal’ days. He went off during the day claiming to be doing that ‘work’ thing and came back smelling of other dogs, Daddy Richard stayed at home with me and did some ‘work’ there. In the evening Auntie Sue and Eric came for dinner. Eric was a bit of a handful for a while on both evenings. He would bounce from one piece of furniture to another and bite anything he found in his path – I put up with it for a while on Thursday evening but I’m afraid I got a little bit tired of it and had to have a serious bark in Eric’s ear. He had forgotten again by Friday evening but that’s probably just his age … he’s still only 12 weeks old! I don’t hold a grudge though and we both lay down and pushed out a few ????s. I have to remember that he’s still very young and he is generally very good! The big event on Friday though was … the bath! He went off to do that ‘work’ thing and then about 11 o’clock Daddy Richard got my lead out. I was really, really excited when we walked down towards The Green but we didn’t go onto The Green for a run around … oh no! We went off to see my new friend Cheryl where I had my bath. By the time Daddy Richard came to collect me, I had been washed, dried and had a hair cut! Even though I wasn’t over keen on being left to have a bath, I have to admit that even I think I look pretty good. I have always been the most handsome dog in dogdom, now I am even handsomer!!!

Just lickin’ me lips after the parmesan crust!

On Saturday he did that cooking thing that he does. I know that I’ve mentioned this before but he isn’t all that bright … about as bright as the moon on an overcast night! I kid you not, he spent hours and hours making the meat sauce, making béchamel sauce and even making pasta – even I know that you can buy a perfectly good lasagne from Morisons!! (Other supermarkets are available!) OK, I have to admit, nobody died, but the amount of this cooking thing he does makes it pretty obvious, even to someone as young as Eric, that he’s pretty flamin’ useless at it! The amount of practice he needs and he so rarely get’s it right. When Eric and Auntie Sue came down in the evening I had a quiet bark with Eric to warn him that he is flamin’ useless at that cooking thing so he needs to avoid eating anything he has produced at almost any cost! I have to admit though, that having had a taste of the parmesan crust, it was pretty good … but he hadn’t had anything to do with it at this point so that probably explains it!

Eric and I had a lovely time at Limpsfield Chart!

Today has been another big day. In fact, it has probably been the best day of my life!! Today is the first day that Eric has been able to go out for a walk. He wasn’t allowed before now because he had to have his vaccinations and then wait for them to take effect. So we went back to Limpsfield Chart for a lovely walk. Well, that isn’t strictly true – I went for a lovely run and walk around but Eric spent loads of the time in his special pushchair. Mind you, it wasn’t him that was complaining, it was Auntie Sue!! She doesn’t like it if you are going uphill. She didn’t mind the down bit when we started the walk but she definitely didn’t like the uphill bit! Daddy Richard and him did explain to Auntie Sue that she might not like it now, but she is definitely going to get used to it! Actually, I thought that Eric did incredibly well because today was the first time he had seen woods or leaves or bushes or ants or other dog poo … there was even horse poo around although I got told off when I went to eat some of it! Now though, I am completely cream crackered after all that running around and in urgent need of pushing out more ????s so, for now, must paws … ????
