It’s been a bit of a week this week. There have been ups … and there have been downs! It was all a bit of an anticlimax after my weekend playing with Charlie. Our journey home was pretty uneventful, if a bit hot and, when we finally arrived home I was happy to be home but sad to have left my friend Charlie behind. He says we can go back and see him again soon but I’m not holding my breath – it took him about eight months to arrange this last visit! We arrived home in the mid-afternoon which meant that I got a walk around Green Lane and Bay Pond path which was good. Actually, there was a bit of an incident in that area on Tuesday afternoon but it was hardly my fault. I think I might have eaten something (he says it was probably something from the greenhouse but I’ve tried most things in there and there’s nothing much I like!), as we walked along Church Lane I found myself in rather an urgent need of a call of nature, if you see what I mean. I stopped for a constitutional and, what did he do to support me? He announced that the people of Church Lane might be able to open their windows again in about two weeks! Charming, I’m sure!

There are definitely some new doggies around and they are leaving messages to announce their arrival!

He went to London on Tuesday morning, so I got to spend some quality time with Daddy Richard. We had a couple of lovely walks before he came home and we had our little incident. The only down side was that it rained quite a bit. I don’t mind the rain but Daddy Richard got quite wet and I don’t think he was as pleased as I was. On Wednesday morning we went for a walk up Green Lane, along Church Lane (I don’t think the ‘aroma’ is going to last as long as two weeks personally) and down Bay Pond path and then he went off again. This time he was visiting a new customer for their Rosemary Bookkeeping business. Apparently he needed to go to help their new customer which suited me because I got to spend more quality time with Daddy Richard. We had a really nice day without him, although I have noticed that there are some new doggies in the area. They have been leaving messages to announce their arrival. I am not entirely sure I am happy about this but I have yet to meet them, so I can’t really make a judgement.

Daddy Richard took this photo - a bit out of focus, but I was running pretty fast at the time!!

There has been a bit of bother in the village this week. Some Travellers moved in a couple of weeks ago and have been occupying The Green. This is bad news from my perspective because it has virtually made The Green out of bounds for me. He told me that there has been a load of ‘stuff’ on Faceache (I think that’s what it’s called, it is the inferior copy of the doggy world’s Pooch-tome) about it being the Parish Council’s fault but he says it isn’t. He says that the police should have issued a Section 61 Notice on them and that they have really let the village and the Parish Council down. I have no idea what he’s on about (nothing new there!) but all that I know is that the police have been unbelievably unhelpful, they have failed in their duty to serve the community and the Travellers are still there. The lack of action by the police and the appalling treatment of the Parish Council by them means that I can’t go on The Green. He says that he has submitted a formal complaint to the Police Complaints Commission and that the lack of action by the Police is reprehensible (I don’t really know what that means but I think it’s pretty bad!).

Honestly! A photograph with a puddle in the middle - does he not even understand that I am the only subject worth photographing!

The upside is that towards the end of the week the weather improved dramatically. That meant that I had some really good walks! I’ve been in Tylers Close field and I’ve had some jolly good runs. Now, I think I may have mentioned this in the past, but he isn’t very clever … about as clever as a jelly fish, if you get my gist. (Google it!) Anyway, if you look at the photo on the left, what exactly is the subject? I mean, there is only one reason to use a camera … to take a photograph of me. I am the handsomest most good looking and clever dog in dogdom! So what is central to the photograph? A flamin’ puddle! Honestly, it is totally ridiculous. Anyway, the good thing is that that puddle is on the edge of Tylers Close field which means that I have got to run around there. Actually, I’ve done quite a lot of running around there. I’ve been all the way to the top and everything. We haven’t been out in the car thingy other than when we went to my wimming session with my personal therapists Zoe and Katie (Emily was there too but she didn’t come into my wimming session this time!).

I ran all the way to the top of the field which is about a million miles!

I think a trip in the car thingy is imminent though – I’m beginning to recognise the signs. Bags arrive in the kitchen and then they get unloaded and then re-loaded (that’s the sign!) and then a trip in the car thingy is inevitable. That said, I’m not sure that I mind the car thingy after all the fabulous things we did last weekend. Anyway, it won’t happen today, it’s too warm and Daddy Richard is far too busy going up and down to the loft for some reason. Yesterday we did have a really fabulous walk! We went into Tylers Close field and I ran all the way to the top of the field (which is about a million miles!) – mind you, I kept getting way ahead of him and Daddy Richard and then getting called back, so I reckon I ran about three times the length of it! Then I ran all across the top, down the other side, back across the bottom to the kissing gate. I got really hot doing all that running, but I didn’t mind. Actually I worked out a way to cool down quite quickly, I launched myself into the long grass and lay down. It was lovely and cooling!

Amazingly, when we went through the kissing gate he didn’t put my lead back on. They let me run along the path. It was quite muddy in places but I like mud, so I jumped in it. My feet were covered in mud! When I got to the stream I quickly looked over my shoulder and they were far enough behind me so I jumped straight in! They didn’t even moan!! Mind you, they didn’t even stop either – they walked straight over the bridge and kept going so I had to jump right out and catch them up. I wasn’t going to let them know I didn’t like being left behind so I ran straight past them and on to the style. I wasn’t entirely sure which way we were going from there, so I had to wait a while. When they eventually caught me up they went over the style and we went down The Hollow towards Hilly Fields. They still didn’t put my lead on so I kept a few yards ahead all the way. We did bump into a couple of policemen on the way down – I’m not sure where they were going … maybe they were looking for The Green!

I found a ball in Hilly Fields and played my lay down and refuse to move game!

When we got to Hilly Fields I had a jolly good run around there and then, just as we were leaving, would you believe it, I found a tennis ball! I quickly grabbed it and kept it firmly in my mouth. As we walked down the track out of Hilly Fields, I found a lovely piece of grass outside my friend Myfanwy’s house and I did my lay down and refuse to move game for a few minutes. I don’t think that Daddy Richard or him was all that impressed so I didn’t push it and got up after only a few minutes. I did try and do the laying down thing a couple of times on the way home but they were having none of it! When we got home he kept saying that I am not allowed balls in the house (which I know but that wasn’t going to stop me!) and, eventually, he got the ball out of my mouth. I’m not sure what has happened to it because I haven’t seen it since. This morning, I took him for a walk around Green Lane and Bay Pond, but it is another warm day, so I don’t feel like doing too much. In fact, I think the order of the day is to push out a few ????s so, for now, must paws … ????
