I know that I said I would be home on Wednesday, but it didn’t quite work out like that. I only came home from the hospickle today! You see, my personal surgeon, Bonito de la Puerta, wanted to keep me calm to give my latest new parts time to settle. They discovered on Tuesday evening that I can be quite boisterous and I like to jump up and try and run, so on Wednesday Heather, my personal nurse, called him and asked if I could stay another night because they could keep me better restricted. Whilst this doesn’t sound like much fun to me and I did get a bit upset about it, it was definitely better for me in the long term, so I stayed another night. Then on Thursday Heather, my personal nurse, phoned him again and suggested that another night would be good. It turned out that between them they decided that if I stayed until Saturday it would be better for my hip. I don’t recall being consulted, but that often happens nowadays!

So now I’m home again. We are pretty much back to square one. The astute amongst my loyal fans will have noticed that I’ve got a flamin’ lampshade on again. I hate those things!!! They did try an inflatable collar, but I managed to work my way around that and get to my wound, so they decided I would have to have a lampshade again! The blinkin’ lampshade catches on everything and I hate it. It also gets in the way of my peripheral vision which I don’t like either. I suppose it is only for another week or so. I am going back to see my personal surgeon, Bonito, on Tuesday, so I will have a woof with him and see if I have to keep it on for another week. Having got home, I had a quick sniff around my restricted lounge and then decided that the best course of action would be to push out a few ????s. I spent a very happy hour or so dreaming of chasing rabbits and stealing bacon sandwiches whilst he was cooking curries for dinner this evening – not for me, that would be disgusting, but apparently my friends Bren and Cathy (Mrs Cheese) are coming for dinner this evening and they like the rubbish he cooks!

I am allowed out for very limited walks but I’m not supposed to jump up or run or anything. I did get very excited when they took me out for a walk earlier this afternoon, but they managed to stop me from jumping up somehow. We only walked to the entrance to the allotments, so it wasn’t much of a walk, but it did afford me the opportunity to go for a wee and to produce a rather spectacular two bagger that I had been saving up! I had a rather spiffing idea too. If they are going to restrict what I am allowed to do, I am not going to make it easy for them – I found some lovely long grass and lay down in it and ate it! They did eventually manage to persuade me to get up and walk home, although it did involve some treats … obviously!

As I am not supposed to jump around, I am not really supposed to get onto the furniture either but you know what he’s like. I think I may have mentioned this before, but he isn’t all that bright … about as smart as bait, if you get my gist! Anyway, we had only just arrived home and he was trying to close the gate that stops me from getting out of the lounge … well, he turned his back on me just for a second or two. That gave me a perfect opportunity to climb (I didn’t actually jump) onto the sofa and have a lay down. I did remember to take my marrowbone with me but actually just liked having a lay down. I did manage to produce a rather stunning bottom burp which, as usual, wasn’t much appreciated! Actually, when my personal nurse, Heather, phoned earlier in the week, she did say that my bottom burps (although I think she used a different word to describe them) are legendary at the North Downs Referral Centre which I think was a compliment, although I am not entirely sure. I think it is going to be a long few weeks again! Anyway, it is now dinner time and I am looking forward to dinner, my pain killers, my anti-inflammatorys and my antibiotics … oh, and the slice of ham that he’ll use to try and hide them! Duh!!! As if I didn’t know! Anyway, enough of this, must paws … ????
Hi Monty
If you don’t behave this time they will have to get you a child’s play pen to constrain you, so be careful!
Oh Uncle Don!
I wish you wouldn’t put ideas in their heads! There’s one on order now!!
Monty xx
Hi Monty welcome home sweet boy.
If you are good and do as you are told you probably won’t ever have to go back to see the doctor again!
So, boring as it is, be a good boy and get well soon.
Pats, strokes and hugs
Fran
Thanks Fran! I am trying to be good but it’s really, really difficult! Love Monty xx
